Coffee Filter Fun!
Coffee filters are cheap and available at any grocery store
and they aren’t just good for making a cup of Joe, but they can also be used to
add a feminine flare to your décor! I used coffee filters to make a cute, soft
looking lampshade.
First I started with a hand-me-down lamppost. It was
originally a rusted brown finish; I sanded it down and spray-painted it
silver/gold; than I began making the lampshade.
To make the shade I used the following materials:
- White Vinyl (Mine is left-over fence, compliments of my Dad)
- Coffee filters cut into 8ths
- Hot Glue Gun
- Hot Glue Sticks
- Metal Screws
Now put all the materials together in the following order:
- Drill screws into each side of your Vinyl so that they hang on the metal frame that surrounds the actual light bulb itself
- Now wipe clean and dry your Vinyl
- Pre-cut your coffee filters into 8th’s
- Plug in your hot glue gun and have additional glue sticks on hand
- Than, starting at the top-left-hand corner begin applying the coffee filters
- Apply coffee filters by pinching each 8th piece at the center
- Next apply a dab of hot glue and push the center-twisted part onto the Vinyl
- Continue the process until each side of the lamp is completely covered
